Policies for ODP
Fall:
The player should attend all sessions, with the understanding that there may
be some conflict with league games and/or previously scheduled tournaments. If
the player desires to miss a scheduled training session, the following must be
adhered to:
Prior to the session the player must complete the online absentee
notification located on the main ODP page.
Do not call or write to the state office to notify an absence. We will not override
the decisions made by OSYSA ODP coaches and administrators.
Spring:
The player should attend all sessions, with the understanding that there may
be some conflict with league games and/or previously scheduled tournaments. If
the player desires to miss a scheduled training session, the following must be
adhered to:
Prior to the session the player must 1) notify the age group
administrator, 2) notify the district coach, 3) notification shall take place
in the form of a written letter given to the administrator.
Players will be identified from the ODP sessions to the State ID weekend; this
does not mean the player has made the State team they have been identified to
tryout for the State Pool. Each district will invite approximately 18 players
in each age group to the State ID weekend. At State ID weekend each State team
coach has the flexibility to invite between 22 and 32 players depending on the
player pool that is presented to him or her at tryouts. This year in the two
youngest age groups (1993 and 1994) we will pick the same amount of players in
the other age groups at State ID weekend tryouts, and at the end of the training
process we will select 18 players to attend the Regional ODP camp for each age
group.
Do not call or write to the state office to notify an absence. We will not override
the decisions made by OSYSA ODP coaches and administrators.
State Pool / Team Training:
Mandatory for all selected players.
All state and regional camp deposits must be paid prior to
the first training session or that player will not be allowed
to train.
During state team training, a player may be dropped at any
time, as we want to get the final team prepared as soon as
possible. The Amateur Sports Act gives any player the right
to have a one-time only tryout at any stage. Players requesting
a one-time tryout must prove on the field that they are better
than the players selected. That player must pay the entire
previous district and state fees before the try-out. This does
not guarantee playing time or a recall.
Some players will be selected as alternates to training with
the state team. The alternates will not go to camp unless a
state team player is unable to attend. They will be eligible
to play in all state team matches.
The same policy for missing training
will hold true. Prior to
the session the player must complete the online absentee notification
located on the main ODP page.
